¡¡¡¡ The most important thing is to purify the mind
¡¡¡¡ When all the sins were repented of
¡¡¡¡ Good deeds were done
¡¡¡¡ And commandments were abided by
¡¡¡¡ It may be said your aspiration for Tao is set up.
¡¡¡¡ Taoism
emphasizes more on the cultivation of virtue, and regards it as
the general principle in the practice and exploration of Traditional
Chinese Qigong. Laying stress on the cultivation of virtue is the
root, having the virtue is the base, and abiding by the virtue is
the ladder. Only after laying stress on the cultivation of virtue
can one has the virtue, and only after having the virtue can one
abides by the virtue. Therefore, we can say that laying stress on
the cultivation of virtue is the precious key to open the gate of
practicing Qigong; one who doesn't cultivate virtue won't get the
aid of the invisible masters, and can't follow the earth, follow
the heaven, follow the Tao, or follow the nature.
¡¡¡¡ Having the virtue is the material base for enhancing the Qigong
power, and the virtue is the ladder of achieving the high level
of Qigong, so repenting of all the sins and making a new start is
the important knack of laying stress on the virtue, having the virtue
and abiding by the virtue. Although there're ten thousands of sects
for both the Buddhism and Taoism, what they emphasize most is the
cultivation of virtue, which can help us to be enlightened. Only
after we've grasped this key can we enter the door to see the true
nature (Buddha nature) and attain Tao.
¡¡¡¡ Method of repenting of the sins and making a new start is the
most important method to achieve the level of Buddha and Celestial
beings. It'll be impossible for anyone to attain the high level
if he gives up this method. All the pious disciples of both the
Buddhism and Taoism must realize this importance and make great
efforts to cultivate the virtue according to this method. Rely on
this method to clear the dust, cleanse the sins, purify the body
and mind, and attain the high level of Buddhism and Taoism.
¡¡¡¡ No repentance, no commandment. The repentance and the commandment
are the magic weapon for purifying our body and mind to reach the
quiet state. If the one doesn't repent of the sins and determine
to become a good person, the commandment won't have the criterion,
and what he takes refuge in Three Gems purifies is only the body,
not the mind. Therefore, we can see that repentance and the commandment
are complementary to each other, not mutually exclusive, and each
of them can't be lacked if we want to attain the state in which
the body and mind are very quiet.
¡¡¡¡ The past equals death, and the present and future equals birth.
The meanings of both the birth and death are very profound. Nothing
but the commandment and the repentance can help us free from the
eternal cycle of rebirth.
¡¡¡¡ Death means to make the acquired intelligence and desire die,
and the ten kinds of evils die. Cleanse the heart and repent of
all the sins and evil deeds of the past. All the evil deeds we have
done in the past, created by our body, mouth and mind from the beginningless
such as sins including greed, anger, and delusion, arrogance, jealousy,
etc., we now repent of them all and may they never arise again,
and "never arise again" means death.
¡¡¡¡ The past sins not only include all the sins and evil deeds we've
committed during this visible life, but also these ones created
by the spirit when it existed singly or combined with the body.
All the sins don't disappear with the change of the space-time,
on the contrary, all of them are transmitted and carried, carried
to this life and formed the genes of this fate curve. If you want
to rebuild the life, you'll have to modify these vicious genes,
which means to neutralize and dissolve them with good deeds, merits
and virtue. To cultivate the virtue is the prerequisite to the modification.
No cultivation, no modification. But only the real, right and strenuous
cultivation can change the fate, and make us free from the samsara.
¡¡¡¡ Making a new start means we'll put an end to all the sins and
evil deeds created by the body, mouth and mind, and never sin again.
Let us haven't any ideas or notions in our brain and return to the
true nature, and the essence of our mind. What are died are the
sins and the mundane thoughts, what's born are the kind thoughts,
the Taoist thoughts, and the essence of our mind.
¡¡¡¡( Ren sheng ben zai shi fei chang, yi sheng nan mian mei you guo.
¡¡¡¡ Xiu zhen zheng dao yao xiu xin,wu xuan jiang dao bu li sheng,
¡¡¡¡ Zhong sheng jie you fo xing zai, zhi kan chen mi qian yu shen,
¡¡¡¡ Xuan ji bing wu fan rong yu, miao fa jiu zai sou bing gen,
¡¡¡¡ Shi e si yu dou qu jin, ji shi neng xian ben lai shen. )
¡¡¡¡ Living in a troubled world
¡¡¡¡ It's impossible for us to create no sins
¡¡¡¡ To practice and prove the Tao
¡¡¡¡ Purifying the mind is the first
¡¡¡¡ Understanding the mysterious and abiding by the Tao hourly is
important
¡¡¡¡ All beings have the Buddha nature
¡¡¡¡ The deference lies in degree of indulging in this world
¡¡¡¡ Theory of Tao can be expressed very briefly
¡¡¡¡ The only mysterious method for which is to repent
¡¡¡¡ Until all the evil deeds are repented of
¡¡¡¡ And self-desire is cleaned
¡¡¡¡ Can't the true nature be seen
¡¡¡¡ Repent of the sins, but what's the sin? Regard the fierce as
ability, doing evil cruelly; treat the kind and good maliciously
and insidious, deceive the ignorant, frame against persons and fabricate
the things; be headstrong without benevolence, obstinate and self-opinionated
ruthlessly; maltreat the common folk to seize the merits and contribution;
fawn on the above to get the power; receive favor without appreciation,
and bear the complaints in mind constantly; slight the common people,
and disturb the national affairs; kill people to get the money or
the position, oust the fair-minded and squeeze out the prominent,
bully the orphan and humiliate the widow; commit the error even
aware of it, and don't do the good even aware of it; wish others
misfortune, destroy others' success; put others to dangerous situation
to get the safe, and harm others to benefit oneself; presume on
one's power to intimidate others, and abuse others to seek satisfaction;
fish for fame and compliments, and harbor malicious intent, take
advantage of another's perilous state, and kill tyrannically; disorder
the whole to ruin others' success; damage other's wares to make
them poor; wish others to die for being in debt; begin to hate for
not getting the aid after praying for blessing; say yes and mean
no, and be double-dealing; hoodwink those above and start a rumor;
claim to be right after slandering the common people ; claim to
be right after abusing the Buddha, and abandon the monarchs and
masters; don't believe in the karma and be against the consciousness.
All these above are actions opposite to Tao, and the sins should
be repented of and cleaned until our hearts are completely pure.
¡¡¡¡( De jue fen ming xin bu shan, wen jun he chu jie ling dan.)
¡¡¡¡ If the heart is not kind enough, you won't be able to get the
Dan even if you obtain the mnemonic rhyme of Tao.
¡¡¡¡ The relationship between the kindness and the Tao is same as
that between the root and stock of a tree, or that between the foundation
and body of the storied building. Without the kindness, the heart
will be covered by the sins, and the crucible can't be set up, the
natural fire can't be made, the base of Dan can't be formed, one
can be only seated stubbornly, and Dan will become only the floating
foam, fleeting smoke and passing clouds. Therefore, the one being
determined to Tao must know the truth.
¡¡¡¡ Method of repenting of the sins and making a new start is the
important means and the basic measure to lay the foundation of Dan,
the empty of the heart can be gradually realized by repenting of
the sins created by the body, mouth and mind one by one at all times.
¡¡¡¡ The ancient people called Method of repenting of the sins and
making a new start purifying the three sins. Sins mean the evil
deeds created by the body, mouth and mind. In order to make everyone
know them, understanding the truth, and repent of them, I list them
as follows:
¡¡¡¡ Repent of the sins created by the body: This means to repent
of the three sins created by the body--the killing sins, stealing
sins and obscene sins, which means to repent of not only the sins
committed by this body during this life, but also the original sins,
for the original sins are the cause of the body sins of this life,
and the body sins of this life are the effect of the original sins.
Only after both the sins of the cause and effect were cleaned off,
can we be quiet and see the true nature.
¡¡¡¡ Killing sins: Firstly, It includes that exhaust all resources
to build up military power, massacre the inhabitants of a captured
city, treat human life as grass, and slaughter the innocent person.
Secondly, it includes that slaughter and cook willfully, butcher
cattle and pigs, and kill the beings. Then, kill the insects, fell
trees without scruple. All these above are the obvious killing sins,
the ignorant contract enmity with others, drawing sword to kill
them. In addition, there is another kind of people, who kill with
writings and harm with penholder regardless of the natural law,
pervert the law, put others to great inconvenience, ill-treat the
harmless, and bring about the evil consequence, killing people without
the swords; these are the more evil people.
¡¡¡¡ All these sins above should be repented of and given up. Not
killing the living beings means admiring the bodies and loving the
beings. All the flying and wriggling beings avoid death and choose
life. We're with the same bodies as theirs and should treasure up
lives to maintain the ecological balance. We'll have to suffer the
retribution and not be reborn as a man if we don't repent of and
give up the killing sins. Taishang (Laots) said: According to the
law of nature, one is easy to be victorious if he bears no ill will
against any body, and is easy to be agreed if he says no words.
If all the killing sins were repented of, the vigor will pour into
the body, and our heart can communicate with heaven and earth, then,
which disaster can't be disappeared? And which good fortune can't
be increased?
¡¡¡¡ Stealing sins: The word "steal" contains to steal openly, steal
secretly, steal much or steal less, which means not only to rob
in daylight or night, but also to bribe others or accept bribes,
engage in malpractice, seek private gain at public expense, presumptuously
get the property of others, even what's gotten is only a bush or
a tree, a flower or a fruit, a drink or a food, which are also called
stealing. Steal others' goods without permission; deceive others
secretly and unexpectedly, etc. are all stealing sins should be
repented of.
¡¡¡¡ Obscene sins: The obscene sins will make us lose reputation and
dignity, and destroy the moral integrity, doing endless harm. The
predecessors narrated the corresponding connotation and harm in
detail. The sins are much more seriously for whom to make obscene
tools such as dirty books, obscene poetries, pictures and portrays,
leaving the pernicious influence for many years. Others such as
act, watch or relate the obscene things, etc. or be interested in
the obscene idea, etc. should also be repented off and on the wagon.
¡¡¡¡ The sins created by the mouth: This kind of sins includes wild
talk, ornate words, double-faced remark, and bad language. Comparing
the sins created by the mouth with that created by the body, the
former is easy to be committed, so we'll have to be cautious about
it. To overcome the desire and resume the rite and morality, and
don't speak impolitely is the key to clean off the sins created
by the mouth. The ancients said: Think carefully self-faults at
quiet, and don't sow discord in leisure time. The phrase "Don't
sow discord" means to sweep all the sins created by the mouth.
¡¡¡¡ Wild talk: Gifted scholars often commit wild talk and the stupid
often commit ornate word, double-faced remark and bad language.
Wild talk makers sow discord, adhere stubbornly to errors, hoax
others, harbor evil intentions all the life, but don't know to awake,
which cause infinite harm to people.
¡¡¡¡ Ornate word: Ornate word means false and flattery articles with
flowery language, and sweet-sounding and flattering word. These
sins are often committed by the scholars, who compose the unpractical
loving poems to parade the brilliance, or write the heresies which
mislead the ignorant, degenerate morality, corrupt social values,
spreading the poison widely. The ornate-word sins are fairly concealed.
Several friends get together, flatter each other, conceal faults
and glass over wrongs, cater to each other' pleasure, making trouble
with flowery language. All these above should be strictly on guard
against, given up and repented of.
¡¡¡¡ Double-faced remark: Double-faced remark includes the following:
wag one's tongue and speak the ill of others at his back, confuse
right and wrong in secret, distort facts, run with the hare and
hunt with the hounds, play off against one another, profiting at
other' expense; make irresponsible remarks, reverse advice, and
misrepresent the right theory, etc.
¡¡¡¡ Bad language: That talk about all sorts of subjects without restraint
once others made mistakes, pick faults, mock recklessly, talk nonsense
and slander, flaunt merits of oneself, publicize shortcomings of
others, etc, belongs to bad-language sins.
¡¡¡¡ To give up and repent of the ornate-word sins, double-faced-
remark sins and bad-language sins, we should eliminate the acquired
intelligence instead of flourishing them or parading the glib tongue,
control tongue, and keep watch over language. Think thrice before
speak. Clean off the wide talk and ornate word, and give up double-faced
remark and bad language. Only after cleanse these sins over and
over again, can we cultivate our moral character, follow the natural
law, and lay the foundation of cultivating the spirits and practicing.
¡¡¡¡ Sins created by mind: Sins created by the mind is equal to the
worldly bad ideas and thoughts. All sins are created by ideas, and
ideas are created by mind. Mind is the host of the body, so we should
guard it very seriously. If we don't warn to handle things with
justice, or subdue the mind with propriety, the evil idea will burgeon
at any time. If it isn't controlled after burgeoning, the body sins
and mouth sins will be hard to subdue.
¡¡¡¡ The sins created by the mind is so hard to be controlled as a
team of four horses, to control the restless and whimsical means
not only to remove the random ideas appearing when practicing Qigong,
but also to repent of the mind sins, which deserves to be comprehended
conscientiously.
¡¡¡¡ Controlling the restless and whimsical depends on the proper
method; we can't let them take their own course, for the sins will
be created once our efforts are relaxed. The ancient sages warned
us to be prudent only. Because only after the prudence has been
insisted, will all the ideas created by our mind be real, the greed
and the anger never stupidity arise, and the mind be quiet, conforming
to the De.
¡¡¡¡ Greed: When the greed arises, one can only wants to seek satisfaction
for him and be regardless the cost of others, the kind idea will
disappear and the evil relationship will begin. The sorts of greed
is too many to be counted, greed for money will amass wealth like
a tyrant, addict to collect wealth, pervert the law to take bribes,
be greedy without stop, monopolize many industries, and work the
oracle, striving for money craftily.
¡¡¡¡ Greed for fame will worry about personal gains and losses, conceal
faults and glass over wrongs, seek for fame unscrupulously, complain
others without stop if one can't success, so the greed will become
the hate. Therefore we can see, one will be scheming and calculating
to harm others to benefit him, even to steal.
¡¡¡¡ Greed for love and sex will indulge in personal affection, then
proceed to immeasurably dissolute, be lost to shame, and the greed
will become the obscene.
¡¡¡¡ All greed is created by the mind, and will be acted by the body.
As a result of this point, one will bully others arrogantly to be
obedient, or defraud others to comply with his will. Sins created
by body and mind all come from the greed. The one who is content
will be happy day-to-day, on the contrary, the one who is greedy
will suffer many disasters. The harm of greed is interminable, we
should recognize the poisonous of it completely, and clear these
sins in our mind away hourly. Those don't know the law of nature
or don't cultivate the spirit but greed for Qigong method, the mysterious
of Qigong or the speed of the realm of Qigong all belong to the
same sins, we should take strict precautions against it.
¡¡¡¡ Anger: To nurse angry sins will display the body sins and mouth
sins, a good example, one becomes angry after being criticized,
scheming to make reprisals. The angry sins will lead to mutually
attack, squabble with very bad language, and even have flights to
divert self from the anger.
¡¡¡¡ Anger is like raging flames, which is impossible to be pulled
back or extinguished once being lighted. Book of Yin Fu recorded:
Fires ignites from the wood and burns the wood consequently, Therefore,
we should get rid of the anger by purifying our mind so that not
to do harm. Taishang (Laots) said: he highest good is like water
that benefits ten thousand things but does not strive, which is
same as the Tao: According to the Tao, the soft can overcome the
hard, and the weak can overcome the strong. If one can be in the
low position pleasantly without trying to surpass others, and make
a concession, the breadth of vision will be as boundless as the
sea and sky. Which anger can arise?
¡¡¡¡ Infatuation: The infatuation doesn't mean stupid or muddleheaded
but means adhere absurdly and stubbornly to one's own opinion, not
knowing the Tao or the truth. Both the body and mind are covered
by the evil thoughts and can't recognize the middle path, which
is a kind of infatuation sins.
¡¡¡¡ There is another kind of people, the scholars, who know clearly
that the worldly affairs are as transient as skimming over the surface,
and finally, all things will become empty, but can't control the
love desire or give up the seven emotions. They want to free from
the sea of bitterness, but indulge in the passion of love, which
lead the right idea can't appear just as the remote mountains were
blocked by heavy fog and the essence of mind can't be seen, being
confused for all the life. They don't repent of the infatuation
until their death, but it's too late.
¡¡¡¡ Many of us involved or not involved in the material world are
all infected by various infatuations. If we don't wake up in time
and give up the sins, it'll be hard for us to reach the pleasant
stage and achieve the high Qigong level.
¡¡¡¡ Comparing the sins created by the body and mouth with that created
by the mind, the body and mouth sins appear at the outside, and
are easy to be examined by self. If we can see the truth of them,
we'll be able to repent of and give up them. Only the sins created
by the mind are concealed and can't be known by ourselves easily.
Comparing it with the sins created by the body and mouth, the mind
sins are hard to be repented of completely, and are easy to reappear
even after being given up. We should pay much attention to these
sins, control the restless and whimsical ideas, and don't lower
our guard.
¡¡¡¡ To repent of the three sins created by the body, mouth and mind
means to repent of ten kinds of sins, after the sins are repented
of, the kindness will be done, which is called the ten kinds of
kindness. If the ten kinds of sins are completed, one can understand
the Tao and can go up to heaven. The one doesn't get rid of the
ten kinds of sins won't be able to stop the eternal cycle of birth
and death, being in the sea of bitterness. If one can repent of
and give up the three kind of sins consciously, the San-qing door
can be entered, being able to get Tao.
¡¡¡¡ Taishang (Laots) said: The heaven helps the good man who says
the good, watches the good and does the good for three years, but
punish the bad man who says the bad, watches the bad and does the
bad for three years.
¡¡¡¡ Method of repenting of the sins and making a new start is to
clean up the three sins created by the body, mouth and mind, and
make the heart spotless.
¡¡¡¡ (Ping shi chang jie zi jia duan, gong qian qin sao ji zhi fei,
¡¡¡¡ Zi jue jian sao san sheng guo, ru ci heng xing mo tou xian,
¡¡¡¡ Zai xiao fu zhi huo zi san, zi ran er ran da xing tian.
¡¡¡¡ Hui guo qian shan ben hu gen, san ye bu chu xin nan jin,
¡¡¡¡ Xing bu qian shan jie nan zun, chan jie chang xun zi tong ling.
¡¡¡¡ Zhu ye shi e you xin sheng, shi yang wan e luan jing lun,
¡¡¡¡ Ren xin dou you tian li zai, jiu kan shi fou zi qin xun.
¡¡¡¡ Si yu san ye mi ben zhen, yuan ma yao suo mo song sheng,
¡¡¡¡ Jing zuo qin xing hui guang zhao, fan xiang dao gui jian yan
xing.
¡¡¡¡ Di gou chang kuo jiu ri chen, chen gou wu zhuo qing chu jin,
¡¡¡¡ Shi shan lao zhi dao xin ming, he he jin dan zi ran cheng.)
¡¡¡¡ If you can pick up the self-fault frequently at ordinary times
¡¡¡¡ Clean up the self-mistake when practicing Qigong
¡¡¡¡ Repent of the sins created in the past, present and future
¡¡¡¡ And insist on purifying the heart as this diligently
¡¡¡¡ The disasters will disappear
¡¡¡¡ And good fortune will come spontaneously
¡¡¡¡ The true nature can be seen naturally
¡¡¡¡ Repenting of the sins and making a new start are mutually complementary
¡¡¡¡ The heart can't be quiet
¡¡¡¡ If the three sins can't be cleaned
¡¡¡¡ The commandment can't be abided by
¡¡¡¡ If the Xing doesn't become kind
¡¡¡¡ One will become quiet naturally
¡¡¡¡ If the sins are repented of and commandments are abided by frequently
¡¡¡¡ All sins and the ten kinds of evils originate from the mind
¡¡¡¡ And disorder the mind contrary
¡¡¡¡ The law of nature exists in everyone's mind
¡¡¡¡ The importance lies in whether self- examine diligently
¡¡¡¡ The true nature is often fogged by the three sins
¡¡¡¡ The restless and whimsical should be controlled
¡¡¡¡ The mind should be introspected when sitting at quiet
¡¡¡¡ The words and deeds should be examined carefully
¡¡¡¡ The dirty should be cleaned
¡¡¡¡ And the heart should be purified day by day
¡¡¡¡ When the ten kinds of kind are planted in mind
¡¡¡¡ The golden Dan will be accomplished at once
¡¡¡¡ The key and root of practice of Method of repenting of the sins
and making a new start and cultivation of virtue and practice are
to subdue the mind, keep the correct and positive mind. Only after
grasping this point can we taste the luscious of that everything
is fine after understanding the essence.

¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao liao xin, xian fo ke yi jian de, zi ran wu le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao xu xin, miao li ke yi jian de, zi ran tou le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao cheng xin, miao xiang ke yi jian de, zi ran che le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao zhao xin, zhen kong ke yi jian de, zi ran hua le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao ding xin, sheng si ke yi jian de, zi ran wu zui ye le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao ping xin, yan wang ke yi jian de, zi ran you yin de le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao gong xin, shen gui ke yi jian de, zi ran you yuan li
le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao pu xin, pu sa ke yi jian de, zi ran you guang ming le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao zheng xin, yao guai ke yi jian de, zi ran wu bu wei le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao bei xin, wu wu bu ke yi jian de, zi ran you zhao jue
le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao kong xin, wu xiang bu ke yi jian de, zi ran wu ren wo
le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao po xin, wu chu bu ke yi jian de, zi ran wu zhong sheng
le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao wu xin, wu jing bu ke yi jian de, zi ran wu shou zhe
le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao yuan tong xin, wu shi bu ke yi jian de, zi ran wu gua
ai le.
¡¡¡¡ Zhi yao li sheng xin, wu chu bu ke yi jian de, zi ran da yuan
man le)
¡¡¡¡ As long as the heart is purified, sages can be met, and you'll
understand naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as the heart is at rest, celestial being and Buddha can
be met, and you'll enlighten naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as being modest, mysterious truth can be heard, and you'll
comprehend it naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as the heart is quiet, mysterious appearance can be seen,
and you'll be clear naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as watching the heart, the empty can be seen, and you'll
be changed naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as you are attentive, birth and death can be seen, and
all sins will disappear naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as being at ease, king of Hell can be seen, and you'll
have the secret virtues naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as being selfless, deity and ghost can be seen, and you'll
have the power of will naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as loving equally, Bodhisattva can be seen, and you'll
see the light naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as being just and honorable, demon can be seen, and you'll
be fearless naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as being merciful, everything can be seen, and you'll
have the illuminating sense naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as the heart is empty, every form can be seen, and you'll
hasn't the notion distinguishing others from yourself naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as being kind, everywhere can be gone, and you'll have
not the appearance of beings naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as being free from the cares, every realm can be reached,
and the meaning of the eternity of life can be understood naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as being smooth and intelligent, everything can be known,
and you'll be worriless naturally
¡¡¡¡ As long as being ready to benefit all things, all eons can be
seen, and you'll attain the completely perfect realm naturally.
¡¡¡¡ The above theory related by the ancestors is precise and to the
point, and contains profound truth. Every one of us should study
it carefully, and try to comprehend the truth of practicing Tao,
recognizing the importance of Method of repenting of the sins and
making a new start, thus conducting according to it.
¡¡¡¡ If you want to practice the Xuan Ling Qigong, you should strictly
recall the words, deeds and behaviors, search for the ten evils
and three sins from the bottom of the heart, repeatedly introspect
